Consense 2014 on 1 and 2 July in Stuttgart / "Meet the Leaders of Sustainability": Industry meeting place with top-class programme

Under the motto "Meet the Leaders of Sustainability" Consense with congress, topic forums, trade fair and several special shows provides a first-class offering. The organisers are Messe Stuttgart and DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council). The leading industry meeting place will open its doors at Messe Stuttgart on 1 and 2 July 2014.

The congress offers the opportunity to exchange information and ideas with experts from all over the world and to expand specialist knowledge in plenary sessions, intensive workshops and seminars. On the first day investors and communities are to the fore, while the second day is all about planners and architects. To open the plenary session prominent speakers will answer questions posed by Dr. Günther Bachmann, General Secretary of the Council for Sustainable Development. Participants in the podium discussion include Götz Rehn, founder and President of Alnatura Produktions- und Handels GmbH, as well as Permanent Secretary, Prof. Dr. Engelbert Lütke Daldrup.

Well-known international architects were acquired for the plenary session on 2 July. One such architect is the award-winning Diébédo Francis Kéré, Berlin. He designed the "Operndorf" (Opera Village) for Christoph Schlingensief and mainly implements sustainable architecture projects in Africa. The French architect Jean-Philippe Vassal, founder of Lacaton et Vassal Architects, Paris, represents a radical understatement with optimal results. Another guest is Kjetil Trædal Thorsen, founding member of Snøhetta Arkitektur og Landskap, Oslo/ New York, which won the master plan for the National September 11 Memorial and Museum at Ground Zero in New York, among other things.

In the afternoon intensive workshops are provided at the congress. In each of the workshops lasting three hours there is the opportunity to deal with expert topics in detail and discuss issues from various angles. Parallel to this, the DGNB also organises a range of seminars on current developments and focal topics of the association. For more details on the programme please visit www.dgnb.de.

The topic forums are open to congress and trade fair visitors and take place right in the heart of the trade fair action - this training offering forms an important link between the congress and trade fair. Well-known partners from the building and property industry were acquired to help shape the content of these forums: the "Building Forum" is used by the Baden- Württemberg Chamber of Architects, the "Operations and Maintenance Forum" by the GEFMA - German Facility Management Association and the "Investment Forum" by the online magazine greenIMMO which specialises in sustainability topics of the real estate industry . "It is all about discussing how sustainability can be implemented in real estate processes from a practical perspective - in the operation and maintenance, in the management, in the green rental agreement, financing and in the evaluation of property", summarises Dagmar Hotze, owner and editor of greenIMMO. On the first day the forum focuses on property management. Property investments take centre stage on the second day. Office property concepts and property evaluation are also topics - always from the point of view of sustainability. "With the "Investment Forum" as a fixed component of Consense, the topic of sustainability finally finds a home. A place to be for the real estate industry where people can exchange information and ideas", delights Dagmar Hotze. In addition to the topic forums, the "Practical Forum" also offers exhibitors the opportunity to present their innovations. ift Rosenheim and the VDI - Society Civil Engineering and Building Services (VDI-GBG) have already promised exciting contributions.

There are also further attractions at the international trade fair. With the special show "Sustainable building with renewable raw materials" the Sustainable building network, brands & values sustainability consultants und Bamboo Technology Network Europe present the European innovative "Sustainable Building Competence Centre" in Verden. Prefabricated components made of straw bales and solid wood supports were used for the new five-storey development. ift Rosenheim with its partner exhibitors will provide information on research in the area of transparent building in the special show "Active research - Better living". A photobioreactor for generating energy in the façade will be presented, among other things. The VDI Society Civil Engineering and Building Services (VDI-GBG) will also present the winners of their design competition "Sustainable wooden hotel" in a poster exhibition — cooperative venture partners included the DGNB and the Association of German Architects (BDA).

With support from the strategic consultancy firm PE INTERNATIONAL, this year Consense will also be a climate-neutral event.
