Our evaluation
After checking the label according to the requirements of the DGNB, we come to the following conclusion:
The FSC labels are recognised within the scope of certification for criterion ENV1.3 of the 2018 version DGNB System Criteria Catalogue New Buildings and Interiors as follows:
1. FSC 100% in quality level 1.3.
The recognition is for the product group wood.
2. FSC Mix in quality level 1.2.
Recognition is granted for the product groups wood and wood-based materials.
3. FSC Recycled in quality level 2.2.
The recognition is for the product group wood and recycled paper products.
Justification
The aim of the FSC label is sustainable forest management, and with it an improvement in social, ecological and economic standards. The certificate ensures the origin of the wood and is intended to safeguard the forest as an ecosystem. FSC has developed uniform requirements, such as the ten FSC principles. Based on these, own national FSC standards are developed.
The verification of compliance with the criteria for the award of the label is carried out transparently by independent certification organisations approved by the FSC. The requirements are checked regularly and comprehensively. If a label holder violates the criteria for awarding the label, it must remedy the deficiencies - otherwise the label may be withdrawn.
- 1. The FSC 100% label stands for products that contain 100% material from FSC-certified forests.
- 2. The label FSC Mix stands for products that consist of materials from FSC-certified forests and/or recycled material as well as material from controlled sources to at least 70%. FSC-certified or post-consumer recycled material is either used to at least 70% or an at least equivalent quantity is used in the production process to manufacture the labelled goods. Proof of the quantity used is shown on a product-specific basis in the supplier's delivery note or invoice.
- 3. The FSC Recycled label stands for products that contain only recycled material classified as FSC Recycled Material, Post-Consumer Recycled Material or Pre-Consumer Recycled Material that originally came from or was obtained from forests.
Validity
The recognition is valid for one year from the date of publication of this test report, i.e. until 20 December 2024.
